Academic interests have focused on the way urban environments are navigated and inhabited, specifically within large cities by both humans and non-humans. Including writings on the failed 1960’s City of London Pedway, as well as the historic developments of London with provision of open spaces for amenity. More recently written work has focused on the ecological crises facing the planet, exploring the landscape management and conservation techniques of Rewilding and how these practices can be integrated within urban design through two essays and a thesis project. Alongside a selection of academic design projects and writings there is also a collection of work produced during personal explorations on this website, as well as artworks produced.

He spent time gaining experience as a technician within the Fabrication laboratory at the University of Westminster, teaching students how to operate and best utilise the tools within the workshops to help them develop concepts, details and proposals for their studio and technical submissions. Before making a transition to working within Pringle Richard Sharratt Architects as an Architectural Assistant where he has now been since 2019. This has built on the foundation provided through previous work and educational experience, providing the basis of a technical understanding within the profession of architectural design, working on heritage refits for commercial and community clients as well as a selection of highly bespoke private residences.

Josh returned to The University of Westminster and completed his Part II MArch course in the Summer of 2022. Which focused on creative reuse of existing structures, with a heavy emphasis on the textural and experiential qualities of architecture which are derived from processes beyond his own control, but were then developed to produce themes and ideas which led to two, large-scale masterplan projects and interventions within these.
